Nautical Family Escape Day One

Set your sights on family fun, nautical-style. Pack your favorite swimsuits and get ready for three days full of adventure.

Check in

Check in to The Beach Club at Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina home, located just 10 minutes from downtown. With amenities including a movie theater and two pools - you may never want to check out.

Pool Day

Soak up the Charleston sun while hopping between the resort's two pools. And when you're in need of a break, try your hand at the life-sized chessboard, assemble a team on the bocce ball court, or pull up a chair at the tiki bar for ice-cold refreshments.

Dockside Dinner

Take a short walk next door for dinner with a view at the Charleston Harbor Fish House. You'll swear the seafood is fresh enough to have swam from the ocean onto your plate. Be sure to ask your server for the catch of the day.

S'More Fun

Before retreating to your room, gather around the beachside firepit to roast s'mores under the stars.

Nautical Family Escape Day Two

Adventure awaits in Charleston Harbor. Get acquainted by boat, kayak, or ferry - and savor fresh local fare, by the water, of course.

Reel in Some Fun

Climb aboard and learn what it takes to be a serious saltwater angler with The Reel Deal Charters. You'll find your sea legs and a fisherman's sense in no time.

Picnic at the Park

Once you're back ashore, head to Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park for a picnic overlooking the harbor. Adults will love sweeping views of the river and downtown Charleston while kiddos delight in the park's new nautical-themed playground and its 1,250-foot pier lined with swings.

Kayaking Adventure

Take back to the water, paddle in hand, as you wind your way through the Lowcountry marshlands on a kayaking excursion with Coastal Expeditions. Keep your eyes peeled for greetings from dolphins who call our waters home.

Maritime Meal

Find yourself back on land and enjoy a hearty meal at Tavern & Table, a delicious restaurant and gathering place on the laid back Shem Creek. Order the seafood tower alongside a few small plates for a fresh family-style meal.

Nautical Family Escape Day Three

Soak up the splendor of the shore on your last day in Charleston. Climb aboard a mighty vessel large enough to carry airplanes, come face to face with new flippered friends and watch the sun set over the ocean horizon.

Climb Aboard

By now, you've surely spotted the mighty USS Yorktown in the harbor. Head to Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum to climb aboard the retired aircraft carrier and recall the days when this mammoth vessel slid through the sea.

Make New Aquatic Acquaintances

Board the Charleston Water Taxi for a scenic commute from Patriots Point to the South Carolina Aquarium, home to more than 5,000 aquatic animals and the Zucker Family Sea Turtle Recovery center.

Shoreside Supper

Head to Fleet Landing for contemporary seafood in a 1940's naval building that overlooks the harbor. Snag a seat on the wrap-around deck and enjoy stunning views alongside tasty dishes.

Sunset Sail

Take to the water once more aboard the Schooner Pride, Charleston's only three-mast ship. As the sun slinks into the sea, reflect on the family memories made and perhaps - begin planning your next Charleston getaway.
