South Carolina's Original Ordinance of Secession on Display

As part of its commemoration of the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War, The Charleston Museum is pleased to announce it will exhibit South Carolina's original Ordinance of Secession on Monday, December 20. This date marks the 150th anniversary of the signing of the document in Charleston. In the Ordinance, the state declared that the union existing between it and the other states was dissolved. South Carolina had seceded from the United States. Visitors may see the Ordinance of Secession during regular Museum hours (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.); families are invited to attend a special Kid Tours program focusing on the document at 2:00.
