Queen of Soul: A Tribute to Aretha Franklin

QUEEN OF SOUL: A TRIBUTE TO ARETHA FRANKLIN

Christian "Black Diamond" Smalls and her 10pc band will pay tribute to the late "Queen of Soul" Ms. Aretha Franklin, in this one night only evening of nostalgic, soulful melodies that aim to take you on a journey down memory lane.

Equipped with a rich and soulful voice largely inspired by the "Queen of Soul" herself, this sultry Charleston, SC native can move the core of her audience with her emotional energy and angelic-like presence. She began singing at the tender age of 2, and realized in elementary school that she was set apart from her peers. Shortly after, she auditioned and was accepted into the Charleston County School of the Arts where she attended from 6th-12th grade. She received technical vocal training during that time and one of her greatest achievements was winning the All-State Vocal Competition that earned her the title of #2 Alto in the State of South Carolina.

Well prepared for a successful launch into a career in music; Christian graduated from Winthrop University and formed a band with some college friends called The Pearls & Funk Band. They performed together successfully for years at several venues in the Charlotte, NC area receiving notable exposure. Shortly after relocating back to Charleston, SC she became the lead vocalist of The New Image Band.

In 2013, she further solidified her profession by beginning her solo career and forming the band Black Diamond and Company; an eclectic funk and soul band. She had her first two successful breakout shows; "Shine Bright Like a Diamond" Part I & II, which set the stage for her as a full time, professional vocalist.

Her gifts have rewarded her with many opportunities to include opening for major recording artists; The Average White Band, R&B sensation Tank, Tim Bowman, K Michelle, PJ Morton, and more.

Christian "Black Diamond" Smalls has consistently delivered crowd-moving performances and is in high-demand in the Charleston area with a career that continues to thrive in a vast market.
