Parklands Foundation Patron Series: Oyster Roast

The non-profit partner of the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission (CCPRC), The Parklands Foundation, is introducing a new event series aiming to engage the public in fun activities with community members in support of the foundation’s projects, which provide recreational resources for members of the community in need.

The first event in the Patron Series, the Parklands Foundation Oyster Roast, will be held Feb. 21 at Old Towne Creek County Park in West Ashley. Members of the community and anyone interested in supporting the foundation’s projects are invited to come shuck for a good cause. The roast will take place from 2 – 5 p.m. and will include all-you-can-eat oysters, beer and wine, live music, and a silent auction.

Admission is $50 per person and kids 12 and under are free. For tickets, visit TheParklandsFoundation.org. Old Towne Creek County Park is located at 1400 Old Towne Road and is open for special events only.

On April 28, the Parklands Foundation’s Patron Series will host a sunset cruise and wine tasting. From 6-8 p.m., guests ages 21 are invited to board The Palmetto Breeze from Shem Creek for wine tasting, hors d'oeuvres, and enjoy watching the sunset on Charleston Harbor. The cruise is $50 per person.

The Patron Series will host additional events throughout the year, including a fundraiser at the June 12 Charleston Riverdogs game, An Unforgettable Evening at McLeod Plantation on Sept. 15, a Wild Game Skeet Shoot & Dinner on Oct. 23 at The Lake House at Bulow, and a special Holiday Festival of Lights preview event on Nov. 11.
