Palmetto Concert Band -- World Premiere Work Honors Emanuel Nine.

The Palmetto Concert Band, based out of Columbia, SC, is pleased and honored to premiere a recently commissioned piece of wind band literature, "there are no words," composed by James Stephenson, in Charleston this weekend. The new work was composed in response to the mass shooting at Emanuel AME Church last year.
The program will also feature horn soloist, J.D. Shaw, performing "Mystic Dance" by Rick DeJonge. Shaw is the Associate Professor of Horn at the University of South Carolina and former French hornist with the internationally acclaimed Boston Brass.
This concert will be the finale performance at the National Band Association (NBA) Conference, and will take place at the Gaillard Center in Charleston, SC at 9:00 PM on Saturday, February 20, 2016. Admission is free and open to the public. Seating is General Admission; no tickets are required.
