Lecture Series: Detective Stories: How we are still learning about the American Revolution today

Join Carl Borick, Director of The Charleston Museum, as he discusses his quest to uncover the story of the Revolutionary War Siege of Charleston and the fates of the American soldiers who were captured during the siege. Borick will discuss the inspiration for his two books, how advances in technology have made historical research accessible to almost anyone, the unexpected conclusions that arose as he studied the events and men of the Revolution, and the open-ended questions that are still to be answered about the Revolutionary War in South Carolina. Borick's two books A Gallant Defense: The Siege of Charleston, 1780 and Relieve Us of This Burthen: American Prisoners of War in the Revolutionary South, 1780-1782 were published by the University of South Carolina Press and A Gallant Defense won the 2003 George C. Rogers award for best book in South Carolina history.

The 2017 Fall Lecture Series will be presented in The Charleston Museum's Arthur M. Wilcox Auditorium and is free and open to the public. Each lecture will be followed by a brief Q&A segment. Attendees are welcome to bring their books to be signed by the author. If you'd like to purchase your own copy, you may do so online or in-person before or after each lecture at the Museum.
