Inalienable Rights: Living History Through the Eyes of the Enslaved

The Slave Dwelling Project will present “Inalienable Rights: Living History Through the Eyes of the Enslaved” on Saturday, Oct. 7, at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens.

African American living historians in period dress will portray the roles of the enslaved from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Experience up-close and personal interaction with interpreters as they cook over an open fire. The cooking will be interspersed with storytelling and lectures throughout the event.

This program also provides an opportunity to sleep in the former cabins at Magnolia on Friday night or Saturday night. The sleepovers depend on availability.

Engage in a conversation about slavery and the legacy it left on this nation.

The living history event requires basic garden admission to Magnolia. Kindergarten through college students in Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties will receive free admission with a valid student identification.
