Grand Opening: Medal of Honor Museum at Patriots Point
Event Details
The Medal of Honor Museum at Patriots Point reopens with a celebration on May 25, 2025! The Museum, located on board the USS Yorktown at Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum in Mount Pleasant, SC, is the national home to the Medal of Honor, the Recipients who wear it, and the values inherent in the Medal – courage, commitment, integrity, sacrifice, citizenship, and patriotism.
Designed to bring the Recipients’ stories to life, the all-new immersive exhibits will take guests back in time to the Civil War through the War on Terrorism to highlight select Medal of Honor Recipients. Each section of the Museum features interactive activities and stories of heroism. Reflect on their stories and then build your own.
Guests who visit on the first day of opening, May 25, will get the chance to meet a Medal of Honor Recipient, interact with Living History Actors showcasing military life from the Civil War to the Vietnam War, visit food trucks, and participate in a raffle drawing for “Friends of the Fleet” passes good for one year’s admission to Patriots Point and Medal of Honor and Medal of Honor Museum and Patriots Point swag. Many of the activities start at 10 am and end at 2 pm, so come early.
The Medal of Honor Museum was designated by Congress as an official National Medal of Honor Memorial site in 1999 but has been bringing the Recipients’ stories to life since 1994. The renovations were sponsored by the National Medal of Honor Center for Leadership.
