East Cooper Speakeasy - Prohibition for a Cause

The third annual East Cooper Speakeasy -- Prohibition for a Cause hosted by the East Cooper Breakfast Rotary Club will be held Saturday, October 13th from 7-11 p.m. at the Sweetgrass Event Center located at 2125 Hwy. 17 North in Mount Pleasant.

It is the Rotary Club's one and only annual fundraiser, and this year's charitable beneficiaries are East Cooper Meals On Wheels, East Cooper Community Outreach, and Rotary Charities that include Polio Plus, Happy Feet, and Toys for Tots. Last year's event raised $30,000 for the named charities.

It will be an evening of 1920's Prohibition-era fun including heavy hors d'oeuvres, open bar, dancing to jazz and swing music with the Charleston Swing Dance Association, games, a grand prize raffle, and a silent auction with themed packages.

Tickets for the Speakeasy are $100 per person and are available online at www.eastcooperspeakeasy.com. Must be age 21 or older to attend. All gangster, flapper and 1920's speakeasy attire is welcome. Bring a non-perishable food donation and receive an extra turn playing one of the games and increase your chances to win great prizes!

THE EAST COOPER BREAKFAST ROTARY CLUB was chartered in 1996 with 35 active members. Today it is comprised of approximately 50 members who provide educational and financial assistance to the East Cooper community.
