Drayton Hall x Guy Wolff Garden Launch Party

DRAYTON HALL X GUY WOLFF GARDEN LAUNCH PARTY

Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 2 to 3 pm at Drayton Hall

"Flowerpots have been central to the enjoyment and advance of gardening for at least 10,000 years, and yet our regard for the pot seems as fragile and fleeting as the containers themselves."

-Adrian Higgins for The Washington Post

Join us for the launch of Drayton Hall x Guy Wolff Terracotta Garden Pot Collection. Be the first to view the exclusive Drayton Hall line of pottery created by master potter and craftsman Guy Wolff while you enjoy a glass of wine from Rudi's café in the beautiful Lenhardt Garden.

Archaeologically excavated garden pot sherds from the Drayton Hall Archaeological Collection will be the historic reference for this exclusive line of pots created by renowned historical potter Guy Wolff. Guy's work has been featured prominently in Martha Stewart Magazine and TV show Washington Times, Country Times, and Epoch Times. Previously, Guy has studied and recreated pottery patterns recovered at Mount Vernon and Monticello and we are pleased to have him as a partner in historic interpretation.

This historic revival of the hand-crafted flower or garden pot is a new and wonderful movement which allows us to reach back to the ceramic pottery patterns which previously graced Drayton Hall and have them recreated by Guy Wolff. Guy has partnered with Drayton Hall to pay homage to the garden displays of the 19th century in discovering and reviving terracota pots based on our artifacts. In order for these designs to enjoy perfect Charleston provenance, our pots are handmade by Guy here in Charleston at Cone10 studios. This is the first time the posts will available to you for your garden. They are limited editions so do not miss the opportunity to pick your favorite at the launch party.

Free to members of the Friends of Drayton Hall, $22 noon-members.
