Mary Martin Gallery Presents David Michael Beck Artist Show and Reception: “A Year of Contemporary Narrative Exploration”

Collectors and lovers of fine art are cordially invited to experience the contemporary artwork of David Michael Beck on the evening of Friday, June 4, 5:00 – 8:00 PM. During this special evening reception at Mary Martin Gallery of Fine Art, 103 Broad Street, Charleston, SC, guests will experience David’s new collection of artwork and have the opportunity to meet our artist, discuss his work, and acquire beautiful paintings by this successful contemporary artist.
David Michael Beck: “This body of work was created over the past year and a half. I wanted to come up with a group of paintings that had a focus on humor and the surreal. The overall quirkiness of the concepts seems to gain favor with gallery visitors and art collectors in much of the work I have produced over the past several years. Some of these paintings were produced for this same gallery show at Mary Martin Gallery last year but was cancelled because of the pandemic. Over this past year I have added several more works to the group. It is my hope this new work is engaging, entertaining, and brings a smile or two to whoever may view it.”
David's great strength as a conceptual artist, as well as his masterful technical skills, has developed a visual voice quite unlike any other in the field of illustration. The underlying editorial, narrative themes evident in his work won acceptance with many Fortune 500 companies, and high profile periodicals. In recent years, he has developed an impressive body of work in genre illustration covering adventure, science fiction, fantasy, horror, and comic books.
David has accrued numerous awards of excellence from The Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts Magazine, Print, and other regional and national competitions. His original artwork hangs in the private collections of such notables as George Lucas, Jerry Garcia and Mickey Hart of The Grateful Dead rock band, Bill Cosby, Hugh and Christy Hefner, and the American Italian Museum.
David's client list has included The Boy Scouts of America, Playboy Enterprises, Hasbro Toy Company, Delta and United Airlines, The America's Cup Campaign, The Grammy Awards, Warner Brothers, Universal Pictures, Anheuser-Bush, Miller Brewing Co., Dow Jones, Harper Collins, Simon & Schuster, Coca-Cola, Sony Entertainment, The Grateful Dead, Marvel, DC, TopCow, and Dark Horse Comics.
