Carifest Salute to Women is an International Women's Day celebration presented by SC Caribbean Culture & Heritage. The theme is "Gender Equality for Women and Girls," and will feature keynote speaker Dr Tashni Ann Dubroy, president of Shaw University, and recipient of the "2016 Salute to Women Award."

The open discussion will follow input from the local community leaders Dr David Cole, President of MUSC, Dr Mary Thornley, President Trident Technical College, & Ms Rita Scott, CEO Channel 5.

Dr. Dubroy is noted for her contributions to the science community, her beauty industry upstarts, and her commitment to mentoring aspiring female scientists. She has been recognized by Money Magazine and Bloomberg's Business Week for her entrepreneurial endeavors, and was recently described by Cosmopolitan magazine as a “Fun, Fearless Female", who is making waves in the science community.
