Book Launch and Signing for "Charleston: An Archaeology of Life in a Coastal Community"

On August 25, 2016, at 6:00 pm, The Charleston Museum will host a Book Launch and Signing for Charleston: An Archaeology of Life in a Coastal Community, by Martha Zierden and Elizabeth J. Reitz.

This special Event is free and open to the public and will begin in the Museum's Arthur M. Wilcox Auditorium with a presentation, followed by a brief Q&A segment. Afterward, a reception will be held in the Museum's lobby where guests may have copies of Charleston signed by the authors.

About the Book:
Charleston, South Carolina, is one of the most storied cities of the American South. Widely recognized for its historic buildings, its thriving maritime culture, and its role in the Civil War, Charleston is also considered the birthplace of historic preservation. Martha Zierden and Elizabeth Reitz “whose archaeological fieldwork in the city spans more than three decades“ explore the evolution of the urban environment, the intricacies of provisioning such a robust city, and the urban foodways that continue to inspire Charleston's culture. They rely on The Charleston Museum’s extensive collections to illustrate the story.
