2018 Hike for Mike

In honor of Michael Lonon, father, husband, friend and nature enthusiast, the Hike for Mike promotes his passion for nature, hiking and the beautiful Lowcountry that he called home. Michael lost his battle with head and neck cancer at just 29 years old, after fighting the disease for more than three years. He left behind a 4 year old son and a 3 month old daughter.During his cancer diagnosis, treatments and Hospice care, Mike's main focus was always on the health and wellbeing of his young family, especially his children.

To honor his strength, his selfless attitude, and to advocate for children who are affected by a parent or caregiver's cancer diagnosis, we hold our annual fundraiser, The Hike for Mike.

Each year the money raised at The Hike goes toward creating resources in the Lowcountry that provide support to these children, including our UPLIFT (Using Play Love Inspiration and Friendship as Therapy) Program, which hosts FREE monthly events for these kids; our continuing education courses that offer FREE classes on trauma in children who have experienced losing a parent from cancer; and our partnership with Camp Rise Above, which will host our first 2 day camp Summer 2019.

Please Hike with us this year and help children, like Mike's, who have been affected by a parent's cancer.
