10th Annual Holiday Spectacular

In celebration of the holiday season, on the weekend of December 9-10, 2017, company dancers from The Dance Arts Studio of Mount Pleasant will present two performances of the "Holiday Spectacular", featuring excerpts from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite as well as other holiday classics.

This will be the performance's 10th annual production. The shows will be on Saturday, December 9th at 7:00 p.m.and on Sunday, December 10th at 3:00 p.m., both at the Wando Performing Arts Center, located at 1000 Warrior Way, Mount Pleasant.

What sets the "Holiday Spectacular" apart and makes it particularly entertaining is its unique blend of stylings. The first act features classical ballet excerpts from the Nutcracker Suite, while the second act offers a fun mix of dance genres set to both classic and contemporary Holiday tunes.

The choreographer for this performance is Melanie Keen, director of The Dance Arts Studio. Keen has studied in New York at the Broadway Dance Center, and has trained under the instruction of Barbara Counts and Cecilia Sprawls, formerly of South Carolina Dance Theatre, Patricia Miller Baker, a former Joffrey Ballet Principal Dancer, and Radenko Povlovich of the Columbia Classical Ballet.

The Dance Arts Studio is centrally located at 1150 Hungryneck Blvd, Suite A. The studio offers dance classes in Classical Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip Hop to all ages. Classes are offered weekdays and evenings. Registration for the 2017-2018 Season is still open.

Studio owner, Melanie Keen, has operated the Mount Pleasant studio for 15 years, emphasizing technique, structure, discipline, grace, poise, and confidence. Her mission is to inspire kids and adults to be confident in what they LOVE to do, dance their hearts out!!
