Did you know the only commercial tea plantation in the United States is located on Wadmalaw Island, a picturesque barrier island located a short drive from Charleston’s Historic District? The Charleston Tea Plantation is home to 127 acres of Camellia Sinensis tea plants, and it is nearly time for the farm’s “first flush” harvest of 2014 tea leaves.

Ambrosial, cognac-colored, and often served in a mason jar over crushed ice, sweet tea is the nectar running through Charlestonians’ veins. Did you also know sweet tea is “the official hospitality beverage” of South Carolina?

This week’s #Charlestonly photo theme is TEA. Show us your favorite iterations of tea and tag your social media photos using the hash #Charlestonly. Have fun!
