How To Spend A Perfect Day In Mount Pleasant

How To Spend A Perfect Day In Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant is connected to the Charleston peninsula by the majestic Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge and its extremely popular pedestrian and biking path, but the town itself has a personality and character all its own. Our perfect day in Mount Pleasant looks a little something like this:

MORNING

A drive down Boone Hall’s breathtaking Avenue of Oaks is worth the visit alone! Begin your day here, making sure not to miss the live educational Gullah culture presentation and a tour of the plantation’s 1936 mansion.

Ready for brunch? Make your way to Post House, a charming coastal tavern and inn situated in the beautiful Old Village neighborhood. Opt for the outdoor patio and enjoy delicious seasonal fare and classic cocktails.

AFTERNOON

Climb aboard the historic USS Yorktown; explore the Medal of Honor Museum; spend the afternoon at Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum. From the flight deck to the Vietnam Experience Exhibit, there’s something for everyone in the family to discover.

Continue exploring at the Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Pavilion – a tribute to the generations that have carried on the Lowcountry’s iconic sweetgrass basket tradition for more than 300 years. Soak in the history of sweetgrass baskets and admire the making of the craft.

EVENING

A perfect day in Mount Pleasant isn’t complete without a visit to Shem Creek! Join Coastal Expeditions for a guided kayak or SUP tour and get ready to explore the waterways. Keep an eye out for flippered friends, who love hanging out on Shem just as much as we do!

Wind down for the evening with fresh-from-the-dock seafood and refreshing drinks with a side of sunset at Mill Street Tavern. Already planning another day in Mount Pleasant? There’s so much more to explore!
