Event Details
Veterans Day Weekend events begin Friday with a patriotic concert by the Charleston Community Band in Hangar Bay III onboard the famous USS Yorktown (CV-10). They will perform from 2 to 3 pm.
Saturday morning will see lots of action as the first annual Run for the Yorktown 5K race begins at 8 AM. http://www.runfortheyorktown.com/ The race will be held as a charity benefit to provide scholarships for youth to attend Patriots
Point’s history and science education programs.
Living history exhibits from World War II through Vietnam War will be on museum grounds featuring re-enactors with displays of uniforms and hardware from 9:30 am until 4:30 pm on Saturday.
Sunday ends Veterans Day Weekend with the first annual Homegrown Music Festival, from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm. The festival encourages the growth of the art of independent performing singer-songwriters. The genres include Acoustic, Americana, Bluegrass, Blues, Celtic, Country and Folk. Using one stage, groups of three musicians will man the stage for an hour, taking turns
playing their original music. Tickets will cost $5 per person for the music festival.
