8th Annual Charleston Dog Show

Welcoming dogs of all breeds and pedigrees, The Charleston Dog Show promises all of the fun and none of the fuss of a traditional dog show. Founded by Middleton Place Hounds—in partnership with, Low
Country Golden Retriever Rescue Resource, Greyhound Pets of America/Charleston and Lowcountry Lab Rescue —dogs of all shapes, sizes, talents and tails are invited to show off style, form, personality and showmanship in 14 different classes.
Spectators’ favorites include the Sporting Dog, Toy Dog, Heinz 57, Children’s Handling, Puppy, Senior, Costume, and the “RESCUE” classes. Entry fees are $10.00 per dog per class and participants can enter up to 10 minutes prior to each class. Registration begins at 8am and the show begins at 9am.
Top performers in each class will be awarded trophies and ribbons followed by the acclaimed Alpha Dog Omega Cat “Best In Show” award presented at the end of the day. Held in conjunction with The Charleston Farmers Market at Marion Square, Charleston Dog Show highlights also include a ceremonial opening with the Blessing of the Dogs, Dog Rescue Village, Dog Vendors, Microchipping, Canine Good Citizen (CGC) testing (available from 9am to 11:30am for cost of $20 per dog) , Silent Auction
(with pet artwork) and Obedience Demonstrations (from noon to 2:30pm)
At midday, the South Carolina Bank and Trust (SCBT) Dog Patron of the Year Award will
be presented to a community person well known for supporting Charleston area dogs and the Tino Swanson Top Dog of the Year will be awarded to a key supporter of the Charleston Dog show.
NEW this year, between 11:30 and Noon, the Carolina Canines will be introduced to the community.
Carolina Canines has relocated to the Charleston area and is involved with training dogs to help returning wounded soldiers from Iran and Afghanistan. They will have a short demonstration of the well trained dogs supporting the soldiers.
NEW is a Best in Show Blast to be held at Bambu Restaurant in Mt. Pleasant on April 28. It will honor previous Best in Show winners as well as feature a canine fashion show with area guest judges. Entry is $35 per person and all proceeds will benefit the Charleston Dog Show.

7) Costume Class: Celebrity judges will determine best dog costume or the best theme costumes for dog and owner/ handler.

classes 1-13 will compete for the Best In Show award.

***The Canine Good Citizenship (CGC) test is designed to test your dog's good manners and
basic obedience training. It is open to all purebred and mixed breed dogs with proof of current vaccinations. Each dog who passes the 10 step test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club (AKC).
