The Country Club of Charleston will play host to the 2013 U.S. Women’s Amateur, a USGA event. The dates of the championship are Aug. 5-11, 2013.
The club has a rich history serving as a host site for state and regional tournaments: six Carolinas Amateurs, dating to 1911; eight South Carolina Amateurs, including the 1999 event won by future U.S. Open champion Lucas Glover; and eight Women’s South Carolina Amateurs.
The U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship, which debuted in 1895, is one of the USGA’s three oldest championships, along with the U.S. Amateur and U.S. Open. It is open to female amateur golfers with a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 5.4. More information, www.usga.org.
