The Velocity of Autumn
Event Details
Filled with laughter and heart, this reading evolves around Alexandra, an 80 year old woman who is in a showdown with her family and has barricaded herself in her New York brownstone with enough explosives to take out the city block. However, her children have someone up their sleeve, Alexandra's estranged son of twenty years. The two have a very explosive relationship, but art is something that connects the mother and son duo. "The Velocity of Autumn" focuses on the frailty and ferocity of life and what it is like to have your independence hanging in the balance. Can estranged son, Chris save her building and their relationship?
The Velocity of Autumn is the third in a trilogy of plays from playwright Eric Coble, known as the Alexandra Plays. The Velocity of Autumn displays Alexandra in a world where she finds comfort and stability as her family urges her to move on. This reading will be directed by our Executive Director, Courtney Daniel. You can also see Eric Coble's rendition of Huck Finn in our 7th season.Threshold Rep is a non-profit theatre that exists to inspire and excite the public through the shared experience of boldly visionary presentations of classic and contemporary theatre and to provide that experience at an affordable cost so that the whole of our community can share in the richness of the theatrical experience. We are located at 84 1/2 Society St. Downtown Charleston, SC. This will be our second time participating in the North Charleston Arts Festival.
