Hurricanes Irma and Maria Relief Drive

Starting Saturday, Sept. 23 at 11am The Alley will be hosting a clothes and supply drive for local nonprofit, LowcountryLOVEforVI, to help the people in the Caribbean who were affected by devastation of both Hurricane Irma and the current category 5, Hurricane Maria.

After Hurricane Irma cleared the owner of The Alley, David Crowley, immediately wanted to do something to help those affected that may not have received the attention of the national media. Crowley reached out to a Charleston F&B friend, Clint Gaskins. who is the owner of Sea Island Food Group, LLC., and the well known restaurant The Longboard in St John and offered to help Gaskins's efforts for the people of the US Virgin Islands.

The Alley has three ways for Lowcountry residents to help the people in the Caribbean:

Clothes Drive (Saturday, Sept. 23 and Sunday, Sept. 24 11am-close: The Alley): Since The Alley is Charleston’s favorite sports bar, they are asking Lowcountry residents to bring in one or more of their new or used sports related items of clothing. All guests who donate will have the option to a free Charleston Mix Bloody Mary, domestic bottled beer, or loaded tots appetizer.

Cash Donation Drive (Saturday, Sept. 23 and Sunday, Sept. 24 11am-close: online): To help local nonprofit, LowcountryLOVEforVI reach their goal of $15,000, The Alley will give everyone who donates $20 or more a free Charleston Mix Bloody Mary, domestic bottled beer, or loaded tots appetizer. The Go Fund Me page is: https://www.gofundme.com/charlestonloveforVI (must show Go Fund Me receipt to receive offer)
Power Generator Drive (Monday Sept. 25-Saturday, Oct. 7: 9am-5pm; BoomTown!):Because the power on the islands is expected to be out for a couple of months, power generators are extremely important. The first 20 people to donate power generators to BoomTown! will receive a voucher for a bowling party for 12 people at The Alley.

The Alley is located at 131 Columbus St. Charleston, SC 29403

Both Clothes and cash donations accepted during normal business hours both Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24 from 11am-2am.

BoomTown! is located at 1505 King St. ext , suite 101. Charleston, SC 29405

Power generator donations accepted Monday Sept. 25-Saturday, Oct. 7: 9am-5pm only at BoomTown!

About LowcountryLOVEforVI:
LowcountryLOVEforVI was immediately formed after the destructive hurricane Irma ripped through the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVIs) of St. Thomas and St. John, and other Caribbean Islands. They are a small, dedicated group of Lowcountry volunteers that have banded together to form a grassroots charity effort devoted to collecting and delivering much-needed supplies to residents of the islands victimized by the storm.

LowcountryLOVEforVI is a Charleston-based, grassroots effort partnering with Project St. Croix, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Christiansted, St. Croix USVI.
