Hello, Saxophone! Kammermusik Concert Series, the new “sax-centric” chamber music series from classical saxophonist Jonathan Kammer, is very excited to announce its star-powered first concert, Sacred Songs & Modern Dances, featuring local music titans Yuriy Bekker and Micah Gangwer (violins), Laura Ball (piano), Regina Helcher Yost (flute), and Terry Muir (cello), in performance with Kammer at the Unitarian Church in Charleston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 28.

The series’ inaugural concert will showcase Laura Ball’s brilliant world-premiere Sarong Suite for piano trio, written especially for her longtime Uned!ted collaborative saxophonist Jonathan Kammer on tenor and Yuriy Bekker, concertmaster of the Charleston Symphony, on violin.
The evening’s entertainment explores gorgeous masterpieces by composers spanning 500-plus years of music from the western classical tradition, all featuring the sonorous voice of Mr. Kammer’s accomplished saxophone playing. A 16th century liturgical Spanish choral chant; an amusing post-impressionist divertimento; a famous German cello romance, and an aria of pre-war Paris, both re-envisioned; a Vaudevillianesque rag, and so much more: Jonathan Kammer, Laura Ball and the epic team of HELLO, SAXOPHONE! KAMMERMUSIK players will weave inventive and elegant new arrangements of classics with contemporary originals for a concert that will equally impress and delight all of Charleston’s live music lovers and visiting concert-goers of every type and stripe!

The concert series will continue Dec.4, Feb. 18, and April 21 with more exciting chamber music featuring sophisticated saxophonist Jonathan Kammer and friends’ dynamic performances of evocative classical music!
