Atlantic Cup

For the first time since 2018, the Atlantic Cup will take place May 25 - June 7, 2024. The Atlantic Cup is longest offshore race in the Western Atlantic and is the only US race dedicated to the Class40. The 2024 edition will start from Charleston, South Carolina on May 25, 2024 and culminate the weekend of June 7 in Portland, Maine.

The 2024 course will bring teams back to Newport, Rhode Island for the first time since 2013. Leg 1 is will start in Charleston, South Carolina with a 704-nautical mile race to Newport. The race will stop-over in Newport before departing on a 250-nautical mile race to Portland, Maine. The Atlantic Cup will culminate in Portland June 6-7 with a two-day coastal series. Also new for 2024 is in the crewed inshore series will be replaced by two days of double-handed coastal racing.

With over 1,000nm of ocean racing, the Atlantic Cup is the longest offshore race in the Western Atlantic, the only race that includes both Cape Hatteras and Cape Cod and the only short-handed offshore race dedicated to the Class40. The race was created in 2011 to showcase short-handed, offshore racing with hard fought competition and exciting shore based events, while also being the most environmentally sustainable sailing race in the United States. The Atlantic Cup has been carbon neutral since 2012 and is the first and only sports event in the U.S. to be ISO 20121 compliant.
