According to Charleston Area Convention & Visitors Bureau Chairman Dan Blumenstock, "Canada is the #1 source of international visitors to the Charleston area, and Ontario accounts for the overwhelming majority of our Canadian visitors." Blumenstock also noted, "When Condé Nast Traveler readers named Charleston the #1 Top City in the United States, they also named Porter Airlines the Top Small Airline in the World. We believe their customer-centric reputation meshes well with Charleston's legendary friendliness and Southern hospitality.”

Porter Airline executives indicated that Charleston’s international appeal to the discerning traveler and a welcoming hospitality industry were influential factors in their choice of Charleston, which represents the airline’s longest haul flight. “Charleston is a truly Southern destination that offers some of the world’s best hospitality,” said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines. “It is a welcome complement to our growing network that I know passengers will embrace.”

Helen T. Hill, Executive Director of the Charleston Area CVB, enthusiastically welcomed the announcement, “We are excited to forge this partnership with a quality organization like Porter Airlines. Their expanding network affords our industry the opportunity to explore the Canadian market in a meaningful way that will benefit new visitors to our region. We look forward to offering Porter customers the same hospitality on the ground that they have come to expect in the air.”

Though the Toronto to Charleston service is Saturday only, passengers can travel daily via Porter’s interline partner, JetBlue with a connection through Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). www.llypoter.com
