Join the South Carolina Historical Society for our 2025 Winter Lecture Series: Untold Stories of the American Revolution. The Winter Lecture Series will take place at Unitarian Church in Charleston (4 Archdale Street, Charleston, SC 29401) on Tuesdays in February and March from 6:00pm- 7:00pm. For those unable to attend in-person, we offer a live-stream ticket option to enjoy the lectures remotely.
February 11th- Vicious and Immoral: Homosexuality, the American Revolution, and the Trials of Robert Newburgh presented by John G. McCurdy, Professor of History, Eastern Michigan University
February 18th- The Tory's Wife: A Woman and Her Family in Revolutionary Carolina presented by Cynthia A. Kierner, Professor of History, George Mason University
February 25th- A Promised Land: Jewish Patriots, the American Revolution, and the Birth of Religious Freedom presented by Adam Jortner, Goodwin-Philpott Eminent Professor of Religion, Department of History, Auburn University * This event is co-sponsored by the Jewish Heritage Collection, College of Charleston
March 4th- “…I continued during the whole war”: The Exceptional Typical Military Service of Winsor Fry—Soldier of Color During the Revolutionary War presented by Shirley L. Green, Adjunct Professor, Department of History, University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University; Director, Toledo Police Museum
