Webinar: Nighttime on the Plantation

In his diaries, CharlesDrayton recorded nighttime activity at Drayton Hall and on other plantations. Enslaved people traveled from plantation to plantation to complete their work. Resistance attempts by enslaved individuals often occurred under the cover of darkness. Conflicts between plantation overseers and enslaved laborers or Charles himself came to a head. Curator Amber Satterthwaite shares how life and work continued long after the sun went down.

Join Amber virtually by Zoom webinar on Tuesday, April 1st at 5:00 pm EST for this look into life on the Drayton proerties by night. Nighttime on the Plantation is a Donate What You Can Event.

If you are not able to attend at the broadcast time, please register as usual and a recording of the event will be on the event page the day after the event.
