Small Works, Big Impressions
Event Details
Small Works, Big Impressions, a collection of small paintings and photographs by select gallery artists, including new addition, Catherine Booker Jones.
The George Gallery invites the public to a reception on Friday Dec 2nd from 5-8pm to celebrate a new collection of small-scale art. Catherine Erb, Lori Glavin, Tom Stanley, Whitney Kreb and Paul Yanko will be a few of the participating artists in this group exhibit. This event coincides with the Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighborhood Holiday Sip and Shop, in which participating neighborhood retail shops will be open from 5-8pm this same evening.
The gallery is honored to include and introduce the work of Catherine Booker Jones at the reception for Small Works, Big Impressions. She is a prefect compliment to the already fervent program of abstract painters. Working out of her studio in Birmingham, AL, she is strongly influenced by the painters of the early 20th century. Her style falls somewhere between minimalism and a softer, less aggressive, expressionism. She works in a wide range of mediums including gouache, oil, pure pigment and collage. Jones employs classic modern compositions with a fresh, bright, contemporary palette.
Small Works, Big Impressions will be on exhibit through Dec 16.
The George Gallery is located in the Elliotborough neighborhood in Charleston SC at 50 Bogard Street. Regular business hours are Tuesday-Friday 10-5, Saturday 11-5 and by appointment. You can contact us by phone 843.579.7328 or by email [email protected]. The George Gallery represents contemporary artists working in expressions of Modern Art.
