In association with youth and junior triathlon coaching specialists Palmetto TRIbe, the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission (CCPRC) will host its second annual Youth Triathlon on July 27th at James Island County Park! The event is open to ages 7 to 15 and is the only one in the area to offer an open-water swim.
The race will begin at 7:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 27. The course is contained inside the park and the open-water swim will be monitored by CCPRC’s safety and lifeguarding teams. Distances will vary based on the age of participants. Ages 7-10 will complete a 100-yard swim, a 3-mile bike and a 1-mile run. Ages 11-15 will make their way through a 200-yard swim, a 6-mile bike and a 2-mile run.
All participants will receive a finisher’s medal and age group awards will be presented to the top three males and females in the categories of ages 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-15. After the race, participants are invited to take advantage of a Chick-fil-A sponsored breakfast and free entry to Splash Zone.
