Paddle the Point Race Coincides with Aquatic Safety Week
Charleston County Lifesaving Association will host its first annual paddleboard race, Paddle the Point on June 3, 2023 at 8:30AM. Paddlers will compete on a short 5k course or a longer 10k course starting at Folly Beach County Park. Prone paddling, SUP, and surf-ski kayaking divisions are included, and competitors are broken down into six age group categories.
Registration is open online until June 2, 2023 and tickets are $75 for either race. A waiver is required to race. Check-in begins at 7:15AM, followed by a mandatory safety meeting with the race beginning at 8:30AM. Buoys will be set out along the water marking the course. Paddle the Point is perfect for both beginners and advanced paddlers. This race is intended for all skill levels, and while this event is competitive in nature, the focus is on a fun, safe day on the water.
“We are excited to share aquatic safety education with our community and hold the first ever paddle race in Charleston,” says Anthony Tipton, Secretary of CCLA.
