Karen Keene Day continues her Moments With Wild Horses series March 3rd with the opening of Majestic Motion. A decade of summers spent adventuring the valleys of Colorado comes together in this body of work. Traveler, Sundance, and Kreacher are just a few frequent subjects of Day's energetic representations. Painting from photographs taken in the field, Day's slick palette knife strokes create just enough of the image for the viewer to fill in the rest. It's difficult not to be swept up in the overwhelming sense of implied motion. With some pieces spanning 72", Day is able to highlight the wide open feeling of 22,00 acres within which these mustangs live.
