LEARNING TO FLY: A TOM PETTY TRIBUTE
The Charleston Music Hall presents Learning to Fly: A Tom Petty Tribute featuring Charleston’s Tom Petty Tribute Band on October 25th at 8pm. Local musician, former Explorers Club band member, and Honeysmoke lead singer, Dave Ellis, has pulled together an amazing group of Charleston musicians to create a stellar tribute to this iconic rockstar. We had the privilege of seeing his group play Tribute to Tom Petty at Charleston Wine + Food Festival this past year and were blown away. Expect to hear all your favorite Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers songs along with some deep cuts. Arrive to the venue a little early to see a special video montage create by Kevin Young that will run from 7pm to 8pm. Doors for the show will open at 7:00PM and the music will begin at 8PM. Tickets are range from $15 to $25.

“The band is an amalgamation of several different local Charleston musicians, all of which share an appreciation of and an affinity for the music and career of Tom Petty.

Tom Petty has been a musical influence and inspiration of mine since I first started learning guitar at the age of fifteen. His music grew on me even more as I aged. I believe that his songs are timeless, and they resonate with people across all generations. It’s also so much fun to get a group of various musicians together who don’t often get the chance to play music as a unit. All to celebrate the great music if Tom Petty – which we all very much appreciate.” – Dave Ellis

The band includes (more guest singers TBA):
Dave Ellis – Lead Vocals / Guitar
Wally Reddington – Bass
Jake Oleksak – Drums
Christian Tyler – Lead Guitar
Jimmy Landry – Keys
Shane Williams – Vocals
Warren Bazemore – Vocals
