Last One Out Kabul/Saigon: A Conversation with Military Leaders
Event Details
In 2021, a striking photo of a CH-46E Sea Knight flying over the U.S. Embassy in Kabul elicited immediate visual and emotional parallels with the Fall of Saigon, nearly fifty years before. The historic departures of US forces from Kabul in 2021 and Saigon in 1975 successfully evacuated hundreds of thousands of personnel and allies from their respective conflicts under extremely challenging conditions. Col. Alexander Pelbath (USAF ret.) and Maj. Gen. James E. Livingston (USMC ret.) were among those witnessing the military exoduses firsthand.
In this symposium, two distinguished military commanders will share their personal experiences in each conflict and provide contextual insight into each situation’s complexities and policies attributed to their results. Get a unique look into the heroic efforts exemplified throughout the military’s dynamic combined arms operations that led to thousands being saved and mission success.
