Grammy-nominated pianist and vocalist Judy Carmichael is renowned as one of the world’s leading interpreters of stride and swing piano. Nicknamed “Stride” by Count Basie, she captivates audiences with her technically demanding jazz style. Praised by America’s Jazz Times for her Peggy Lee-inspired vocals, Judy’s infectious style has graced venues from Carnegie Hall to Rio de Janeiro. She created, produces, and hosts, Judy Carmichael’s Jazz Inspired now in its 25 years on NPR stations across the country, and is the author of numerous books on stride piano.
