It’s the quality of the light in the Lowcountry—sunrise, sunset and everything in between—that drives Helli Luck’s passion for painting in the coastal region of South Carolina.?
“For me, the light sculpts the image, which allows me to paint three-dimensionally,”?says Luck. “The shape where the light and shadow meet provides a way for me to sculpture the piece.”
Born and raised in London, Helli was exposed to great art from a very young age. She spent a lot of time in cities all over Europe visiting museums and studying the Old Masters and the Impressionists, whose influence can be seen in her work today. Her career has included working for the prestigious advertising agency, Saatchi and Saatchi as well as an art director handling accounts such as British Airways. Now a resident of Pawley’s Island, SC, Helli has participated in the annual Piccolo Spoleto Outdoor Art Exhibition in Marion Square where her light-filled oils are a favorite among collectors.
Please join us on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 5-8 PM in the Gallery for a Featured Artist Reception for Helli’s latest collection, “Into the Light.” The artist will be in attendance and light refreshments will be served. The show will be on display through the month of September.
