In Their Footsteps: Retracing Black History in Charleston

Join Gullah-Geechee storyteller Fouché Sheppard and Walk & Talk Charleston on a journey through the Black History of the city as we retrace the paths and visit landmarks of generations past and present. This tour offers a sense of place through storytelling to enhance discussions of the legacy of Black liberation from chattel slavery, Reconstruction, Jim Crow, Civil Rights, Black Lives Matter movement, and living history. This framework will center the experiences of Charleston's African American community & the diaspora throughout the city’s dynamic history.
