Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration

The City of North Charleston Cultural Arts Department will present the
City’s first Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 6-9pm at the Park Circle Community Building at 4800 Park Circle, North Charleston. The inaugural family-friendly event is presented in acknowledgement of National Hispanic Heritage Month, which is recognized from September 15-October 15 each year. Admission and parking are free.

All are welcome to come together for a fun evening celebrating Hispanic culture with food vendors, an art market featuring Latinx artists and creators, and live music by Gino Castillo and the Cuban Cowboys along with Latin dance demonstrations by Holy City Salsa Dance Studio. The event will also feature hands-on craft activities, as well as an opportunity to create contributions for Roots of Reverence: A Community Ofrenda, a public art installation created by local artist Steph Frx. An ofrenda, or altar, is an offering assembled during the annual and traditionally Mexican Día de los Muertos celebration to honor loved ones who have passed. The installation serves as a vibrant, evolving tribute and highlights the cultural diversity within North Charleston.
