Charleston's Authentic Brazilian Steakhouse Serves up Traditional Thanksgiving Fare

Galpao Gaucho, located at 167 East Bay Street in historic downtown Charleston is serving some traditional favorites for their first Thanksgiving celebration in the Holy City. The restaurant, which opened in the spring of 2020, is pulling out all the stops for the American holiday. "We will have everyone's favorite dishes," says manager Antonio Jochem, "including turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes and green bean casserole. Most of our staff and all of our Gaucho chefs are Brazilian so it's a lot of fun for us to create these traditional Thanksgiving foods." Galpão will be serving Thanksgiving meals from 9am-9pm. The restaurant will also be serving its traditional Gaucho fare of grilled meats and fresh salads, and offers 17 different cuts of meats, ranging from beef, pork, chicken, lamb, and seafood, which are served tableside by gaucho chefs. The meats are complimented by a delicious gourmet salad bar including hearts of palm, artichoke hearts, sweet beets, asparagus, imported cheeses, and cured meats. Side dishes like garlic mashed potatoes, caramelized bananas, traditional rice and black beans, and Brazilian cheese bread made with cassava flour are the perfect complement to the unlimited continuous service meal. For dessert, patrons can choose from a number of gourmet and house made desserts, which include crème brulee, Brazilian style flan, chocolate molten cake, and papaya cream.

Galpão Gaucho is a traditional Brazilian steakhouse inspired by the Gaucho culture and the authentic dining tradition of the Brazilian cowboy. Centuries ago, the gauchos of Brazil formed a culture all their own, complete with a distinctive cuisine and a characteristic love of the land of South America.

Galpão Gaucho's 200 year-old building offers vast amounts of charm and is just steps from the Charleston harbor. A large upstairs space is perfect for events and parties, and can hold both medium and large size groups with seating up to 300.
