Chamber Music at the Pearl

Chamber Music Charleston concludes its “Chamber Music at the Pearl” series on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 7 PM at the Pearl Theatre of the West Ashley Theater Center (1401 Sam Rittenberg Blvd. #11, West Ashley). This final performance in the series will showcase an innovative program featuring violinist Jenny Weiss, flutist Regina Helcher Yost, French horn player Debra Sherrill Ward, and pianist Irina Pevzner.

The evening’s program opens with Mel Bonis’ evocative “Scènes de la forêt” for flute, horn, and piano. This work, composed in 1905, is a vivid musical portrayal of forest scenes, blending impressionistic textures with lyrical themes to create a rich, atmospheric experience.

Following Bonis, the ensemble will perform César Cui’s Three Pieces for Flute, Violin, and Piano, Op. 56. Written in the late 19th century, these charming pieces reflect Cui’s distinctive style, characterized by their melodic inventiveness and intricate interplay between the instruments.

The concert concludes with Johannes Brahms’ Trio for Violin, Horn, and Piano in E-flat Major, Op. 40. Composed in 1865, this trio is celebrated for its expansive structures, lyrical themes, and the skillful integration of the horn with the violin and piano. Brahms’ work is a testament to his mastery of chamber music and provides a fittingly grand finale to the series.

Join us for an evening of captivating music and exceptional performances at the Pearl Theatre, renowned for its intimate and acoustically rich setting.
