Meet the creators of Only an Octave Apart—a performance exalted on “Best of” lists at The New York Times, Washington Post, and Time and described as a “breathtaking cabaret-fantasia” by New York Magazine. Presented at Spoleto, Justin Vivian Bond—“the greatest cabaret artist of their generation” (The New Yorker)—pairs with the ever-brilliant, world-class countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo, for a hilarious, vulnerable, and utterly spectacular opera-meets-cabaret-meets pop hybrid that defies genre.

In this theatrical, musical revue, two iconic performers, Justin Vivian Bond—an Obie and Bessie Award winner and Tony Award nominee—and Grammy Award winning countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo join forces, subverting distinctions between high and low and juxtaposing their vocal pitches, performance styles, repertoires, and degrees of camp. Carving new pathways between opera and politically subversive cabaret, the pair intermingle their distinct vocal gifts, uniting iconic classical works with popular 20th 21st-century hits.
