Aquarium Eclipse Events

Event Details

Saturday, August 19th

-NASA Subject Matter Experts will be at the Aquarium to do 3 presentations about the total solar eclipse
-Presentations times: 11:30-12:15/1:00-1:45/2:30-3:15 pm
-Will pass out NASA goodie bags (glasses, safety sheets, stickers, and bookmarks) during the presentations
-Education will do a special eclipse-themed Nature Discovery program at 1:00 pm in the Great Hall
-NASA 360 may be coming in the afternoon to get footage of NASA experts interacting with our visitors

Monday, August 21st

-NASA livestreams of the eclipse as it happens across the country will play in the Recovery Theater
-Eclipse-themed enrichments will happen up until it's almost go time

o 10:00 am - Otters
o 11:30 am - Liberty
o 12:00 pm - Animal Ambassador Show
o 1:00 pm - Carolina Seas
o 2:00 pm - Coast gallery

-Special eclipse-themed Nature Discovery Program in the Great Hall at 1:00 pm
-We are cancelling the 2:00 pm show, 2:30 pm Turtle Talk, and 3:00 pm Dive Show
-Basic eclipse info and fast facts will be passed out to volunteers and staff so they can engage with the public about it
-We'll livestream/record video footage of animal behavior in Mt. Forest and Saltmarsh exhibits as it gets closer to eclipse time
-When it gets close to the time, the education team plans to station ourselves at all of the outdoor areas that will have a good view of the eclipse so we can chat with people about it
