Chamber Music Charleston is pleased to present legendary violinist Midori in concert at the College of Charleston Sottile Theatre on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 7:30pm. Along with pianist Leva Jokubaviciute, Midori will perform a recital of masterworks from the violin repertoire. The evening will conclude with an elegant post-concert reception in the Colonial Ballroom of the Francis Marion Hotel.
Midori is a visionary artist, activist and educator whose unique career has transcended traditional boundaries. A prominent concert violinist for over 30 years, she is also a noted global cultural ambassador and dedicated music educator.
Midori has performed with most of the world’s great orchestras and collaborated with renowned artists from Leonard Bernstein, Mstislav Rostropovich and Claudio Abbado to Yo-Yo Ma, Mariss Jansons, Christoph Eschenbach, Paavo Järvi, Menahem Pressler, Susanna Mälkki, Zubin Mehta, Antonello Manacorda and Leonard Slatkin. She also enjoys working with the younger generation of conductors including Joshua Weilerstein, Constantinos Carydis, Omer Meir Wellber and Andrés Orozco-Estrada.
Recent and upcoming engagements highlight her versatility with performances of diverse repertoire in Europe, Asia, North and South America with orchestras including the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Staatskapelle Dresden, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony, Sydney Symphony, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal and in chamber settings with, among others, pianists Jean-Yves Thibaudet and Jonathan Biss and cellist Antoine Lederlin.
