7th Annual Charleston Jazz Jam

The 7th Annual Charleston Jazz Jam will be held from 4pm to 8pm, Sunday, October 23rd, 2016, at the Dock House on Bowen’s Island. Special Guest appearance by nationally known saxophonist, Richie Cole.

Organized by Dennis Fassuliotis, local businessman and founder of the Charleston Jazz Club and Lee Barbour, composer, producer and cofounder of Ohm Radio, the 7th Annual Charleston Jazz Jam is an unscripted, unrehearsed four-hour live jazz concert that is free to the public and will feature over 50 of the greatest jazz musicians in Charleston.
“Ohm Radio is Charleston’s only locally owned, community based, nonprofit media outlet. On October 23 we plan to bring the jazz community together to celebrate just over a year of this new outlet’s existence, raise awareness and some funds for this unique alternative media outlet.” said Barbour.

Barbour will emcee this year’s event and has put together an outstanding group of some of Charleston’s best musicians to start the show with Gerald Gregory on keyboards, Jake Holwegner on bass, Asa Holgate on drums, Simon Harding on saxophone, Lee Barbour on guitar and jazz vocalists Heather Rice, Bobbie Storm and Bobby Alvarez. Charleston’s Bossa Nova king, Duda Lucena will be making his annual appearance as well as many of Charleston’s favorite jazz musicians.

The 7th Annual Charleston Jazz Jam is being sponsored by Dennis & Elaine Fassuliotis, Lee Barbour & Vikki Matsis, David Berger, the owner of How Art Thou Jazz Café & Tapas Bar, and Bowens Island Restaurant. Sponsors also include Home Team BBQ, Coast Brewing Company and others soon to be announced.

There is no admission fee for the Jazz Jam but everyone will be encouraged to join with all of the musicians to help financially support the Ohm Radio and establishing it as Charleston’s community radio outlet.
