"Field Day", A Solo Exhibit by Artist Vicki Sher

According to Anne Siegfried, The George Gallery owner and curator, "Vicki Sher's ability to maneuver and utilize the space on a canvas is unique. Having been creating and exhibiting artwork for over two decades, Sher has developed a "personal language" of colors and shapes, which she uses strategically to create pieces that are fluid and conversational. Sher's connection between movement and open space, creates a type of energy that makes it feel as if her work could leap from the canvas. This, combined with her consistently bright color palette and tangible vibrancy is enhanced by her thoughtful compositions."

Vicki Sher describes her work as "very intuitive and abstract-focused."

"Decisions are made based on color, shape, line, space, negative spaces and layers. However, the work is grounded in natural forms, flowers, plants, domestic life, etc. I've drawn much of my inspiration from the world around me and, specifically, its recent changes. It's not political, but it does seem worth mentioning that this new work all began for me as if in response to a horrible reality. I chose to turn my back on certain negative aspects of the world and focus on those timelessness in beauty, love, nature, and joy. This is what I chose to make my work about: the complexity, surprises and playfulness all around us."
