How To Spend A Perfect Day On Kiawah Island

Kiawah Island is a true Lowcountry gem. In addition to its 10 miles of beaches, the island’s perfectly preserved maritime forest, sand dunes and marshes are enjoyed by visitors and locals alike (whitetail deer, alligators, bobcats, seabirds and sea turtles included). This residential community incorporates a world-class resort and a unique, vibrant shopping village, offering something for everyone. Our perfect day on Kiawah Island looks a little something like this:

MORNING

Wake up at Andell Inn and enjoy a peaceful breakfast on the spacious wrap-around patio overlooking the lake before a full day of adventure on the island! Stroll right out the front door and pop in to Java Java for your morning latte before browsing through cute boutiques in Freshfields Village, including Southern Tide, Spartina 449, Vineyard Vines and more.

AFTERNOON

Enjoy a light lunch (and a frozen cocktail or two) poolside at Loggerhead Bar & Grill at The Sanctuary before challenging yourself to a round of golf where the pros play. Tee it up at the Pete Dye-designed course rated “No. 1 Most Difficult Golf Course in the Country,” or head to The Spa at The Sanctuary to relax and unwind instead! Still excited to explore? Head back to Freshfields and rent bicycles from SeaCoast Sports and Outfitters, then set out to adventure on two wheels.

EVENING

Make your way to FortyEight – Wine Bar & Kitchen for a glass of wine before heading back to The Sanctuary for dinner! Head to The Ocean Room – Kiawah’s premier steakhouse boasting Forbes Five-Star and AAA Four-Diamond ratings – or make reservations for The Atlantic Room to satisfy your seafood cravings. Sip craft cocktails with a sunset view overlooking the ocean before heading back to Freshfields to end the day on a sweet note at Ben & Jerry’s.
