For Immediate Release, July 2010http://www.familycirclecup.com
The Family Circle Tennis Center, Charleston’s premier public tennis facility, will host a Tennis Block Party presented by The Daniel Island News to showcase its many tennis programs available for the whole family from 9:00am to noon on Saturday, August 7th, 2010. Growing the game of tennis has always been a top priority for the Family Circle Tennis Center, and this United States Tennis Association (USTA) backed initiative has been a proven catalyst for community growth throughout America’s public facilities. This free event will feature the newest tennis instructional techniques available today, provided by the Tennis Center’s Instinctive Tennis Academy (I.T.A.), all designed to introduce tennis in a fun and easy manner where everyone can quickly succeed at this sport of a lifetime.
Children and adults will enjoy a wide selection of free activities, designed for beginner to advanced players, beginning at 9:00am and continuing throughout the morning with music, games, tennis drills, contests, an adult tennis zone, fast serve/radar gun, “hit & get”, complimentary Carvel Ice Cream, lunch, refreshments, and many other activities. Instruction for children 8 & under will include activities on the Charleston area’s only permanent Quickstart tennis courts.
In addition to this day of tennis fun, complimentary raffles will be held throughout the event offering over $2,500 in prizes including 2011 Family Circle Cup Box Seats, a Family Circle Tennis Center membership, Family Circle Cup autographed items, Dunlop tennis racquets, and an assortment of non-tennis items including concert tickets for Hootie & The Blowfish, O.A.R., Black Crowes, and Train, as well as Charleston RiverDogs tickets. The event will conclude with a complimentary cook-out lunch at Noon.
“Our Tennis Block Party has grown from a small community happening, to the Charleston area’s largest free tennis event. Hundreds of kids and adults will leave with a solid knowledge of the game and improved tennis skills so they can enjoy this sport of a lifetime with friends and families,” commented Rob Eppelsheimer, Family Circle Tennis Center Director, Facilities and Tennis Development. “We greatly appreciate the support of The Daniel Island News, which has helped us to grow this event to what it is today.”
