Walk & Restore

Interested in maybe just getting out to enjoy a healthy walking program?

The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission (CCPRC) can help, with several running/walking clinics and walking programs that start up at the end of January at beautiful county park locations.

For walkers who are looking for a more relaxed fitness regimen that integrates walking with yoga, CCPRC’s Walk and Restore program will kick off Jan. 26. Walk and Restore is led by restorative yoga professionals. Participants will walk short loops on the scenic trails of either James Island County Park or Ravenel Caw Caw Interpretive Center, stopping intermittently to stretch and relax. Then, the session will head inside to focus on restorative yoga techniques including strength, flexibility, balance and breath.

Walk and Restore classes are held on Mondays and Thursdays.

Program offerings:
-Jan. 26 – Feb. 26, 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at James Island County Park; or
-Feb. 9 – 26, 10 – 11 a.m. at Caw Caw Interpretive Center

Participants have the option of purchasing single classes at the park gate or registering in advance for six or more sessions to receive a $3 discount per class. Walk and Restore is available for ages 16 and up, and classes are $8 each for Charleston County residents ($5 each with full session registration) or $10 for non-residents ($7 for full session registration). Interested participants can also drop in without registering for $10.
