Veterans Day at the Citadel

On this special day of recognition, in a place where there is a deep appreciation for American military service, there will be several events on campus to honor and assist veterans:

7:30 – 9 a.m. 3rd Annual Veterans Day Breakfast. Veterans currently attending The Citadel, who graduated from The Citadel or who work at the college, as well as active duty personnel on campus are invited to a complimentary breakfast gathering in their honor at Daniel Library. (Not open to general public)

11 – 11:30 a.m. Ribbon-cutting to officially open The Citadel’s new facility for the Office of Military and Veterans Affairs. The opening of the new office dedicated to veterans marks the beginning of the college’s expansion of services to veterans and their families that will be rolled-out over the coming months. The new programs stem from the college’s LEAD Plan 2018, a part of which identifies the need for the expansion of veteran student services and programming for those wanting to further their education at a place that appreciates and understands their sacrifices and educational needs.

Noon – 1 p.m. Luncheon for veterans from 180 Place. The Citadel’s Krause Center for Leadership and Ethics will host veterans who are guests from 180 Place (formerly Crisis Ministries). They will be served lunch, receive decorations provided by Charleston school children, and have the opportunity to relax and socialize with cadets. Mark Clark Hall, 2nd floor, Greater Issues Room.
