On Saturday October 18, from 2 pm to 6 pm, Charleston’s home to the 100 beer club, Mellow Mushroom, and one of the best local breweries, Holy City Brewery, will host the area’s largest home brewing competition and home brewing festival, the Iron Brew, at the Holy City Tap Room.
On July 29, 2014, over 110 home brewers gathered at Mellow Mushroom Avondale to find out the secret ingredient which they will all have to use. This year’s ingredient is chocolate, and they all will be competing in this unique contest for the coveted prize of having their beer brewed by Holy City Brewing and put on tap at Mellow Mushrooms throughout South Carolina.
Attendees of the festival will have the opportunity to sample all the home brew beers and vote for their favorite beer they want to win the People’s Choice Award. Guests will also enjoy live music, games, and pretzels and brats provided by Mellow Mushroom.
Iron Brew Festival is open to the public with a $10 donation to the local nonprofit, Galavas Kolonko Foundation.
