Annual Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Festival

The Sixth Annual Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Festival will take place at Waterfront Memorial Park on Saturday, June 5th, 2010 from 10:00am - 5:00pm.
Folks from near and far are invited to experience and enjoy a variety of Gullah Geechee skits, gospel groups, storytelling, folklore, music and dance performed by local entertainers. The largest showcase of diversified sweetgrass baskets in the Lowcountry; will be displayed by local basket makers, along with unique handmade quilts, paintings and crafts at the Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Festival celebrations. The festival provides a family fun atmosphere with jump castles, water slides, face painting along with an array of children’s arts and craft. Delicious Lowcountry foods will be provided by local restaurants and food vendors for all to enjoy.
Visitors will have the opportunity to engage in hands on basket making demonstrations and enter the drawings for a chance to win beautiful sweetgrass baskets.
